Why Lasco
A capability no non-franchised chain has. Here’s what it actually means for your vehicle.
What We Check
We check your VIN against manufacturer records on every visit, on any make — not just the makes we’re franchised for. Open recalls are repaired at no charge. This isn’t something Belle Tire, Monro, a quick-lube or most independent shops can offer, because manufacturer-level VIN data and factory recall/TSB access require the kind of franchised-dealer relationship a non-dealer shop simply doesn’t have.
Know the Difference
A recall is a safety-related issue the manufacturer is legally required to fix at no cost to you, on any make, at any authorized facility — it doesn’t expire and it isn’t tied to your warranty status. A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is different: it’s manufacturer guidance to repair shops about a known issue and the correct fix for it, which helps our technicians diagnose something correctly the first time instead of guessing. TSB-related repairs may or may not be covered depending on your specific warranty status — we’ll tell you plainly which situation you’re in before doing any work.
Why It Matters
Plenty of people are driving around on an open recall without knowing it — recall notices get mailed to whatever address the manufacturer has on file, which isn’t always current, especially on a used vehicle. Checking your VIN takes a few minutes and costs nothing; finding out about a safety recall from us instead of after something goes wrong is the entire point.
Why We Can Do This
Our technicians hold factory certifications from more than one manufacturer, and our master technicians are qualified across every make and model. That’s what makes VIN-level recall and TSB access possible in the first place — it isn’t a database anyone can subscribe to, it’s tied to a genuine manufacturer training and dealer relationship. A tire chain can hire good people; it can’t send them to a manufacturer’s own program, because it isn’t a franchised dealer. We can, and we have.
Questions
No. It's included with your visit, on any make, at no charge to check.
Open recalls are repaired at no charge — that's a manufacturer requirement, not something that depends on where you bought the vehicle or your warranty status.
A recall is a safety issue the manufacturer must fix for free, on any make. A TSB is guidance to repair shops about a known issue and its correct fix — it helps us diagnose accurately, but a TSB repair isn't automatically free the way a recall is.
Yes — the VIN check itself works across manufacturers. It's specifically the deep factory diagnostic and repair capability that depends on manufacturer training and tooling, which is why we highlight it as something a non-dealer shop typically can't offer.
