What to Expect

What Happens When You Bring It In

You describe what it’s doing

A grind, a squeal, a soft pedal, a pull to one side. You don’t need the part name.

We inspect it and show you

Wheels off, pads and rotors measured, calipers and hoses checked. Free, no appointment required.

You get a written estimate, per axle

Parts, labor, shop supplies and disposal fees, itemized, before anyone picks up a tool.

We call before we exceed it

If something else turns up once we’re in there, work stops and we call. You decide.

Why Here

Factory Training Isn’t a Fence.
It’s Where We Start.

Brake work is one of the most safety-critical jobs a shop does, and one of the easiest to shortcut. Here’s what doesn’t get shortcut here.

A written estimate before we touch anything

Michigan law requires it above $50. We’d do it anyway. If a repair is going to run past the estimate, we call you first — every time.

Your warranty stays intact

Federal law protects your right to service your vehicle wherever you want. We’re not going to tell you otherwise. We’d just rather earn it.

Dealers usually cost less, not more

Cox Automotive’s 2025 study put the average dealership repair at $261 against $275 at general repair shops. Kelley Blue Book calls the opposite belief perception bias rather than reality.

Where We Work

What Areas Does Lasco Auto Repair & Tire Serve for Brake Repair?

We’re on Ali Drive off S Saginaw, minutes from I-75 and Hill Road, and brake work is one of the most common reasons drivers from all across the area find us — road salt is hard on calipers and hardware, and potholes are hard on everything else. Most of our brake customers come from Grand Blanc and Grand Blanc Township, including the 48507 side of the Saginaw and Hill corridor, plus Burton, Davison and Swartz Creek.

Questions

Straight Answers

Is it safe to keep driving with grinding brakes?

Grinding usually means the pads are worn past the wear indicator and metal is contacting metal — that’s a safety issue, not a maintenance reminder. Get it looked at before you drive much further; we’ll fit you in for a free inspection.

How much does a brake job cost?

We don’t publish a price list, and there’s an honest reason: the same brake job on two identical vehicles can differ depending on the condition of the rotors and hardware once the wheel is off. We quote your specific vehicle, always per axle, always in writing, before we start.

Do you replace pads without replacing rotors?

When the rotors measure within spec after resurfacing or inspection, yes. We’ll tell you plainly which one your vehicle actually needs — we diagnose first and quote second, not the other way around.

Will a brake repair here affect my factory warranty?

No. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects your right to have your vehicle serviced wherever you choose without losing your factory warranty.
