Is a loud exhaust dangerous?
A loud exhaust by itself is usually a nuisance rather than a hazard, but a break in the system can sometimes let exhaust gases reach the cabin — if you ever smell exhaust inside the car, that’s a safety issue and worth getting checked right away.
Why does exhaust rust out so much faster in Michigan?
Road salt used for winter de-icing accelerates corrosion on anything underneath the vehicle, and the exhaust system — hanging low, running hot, then getting cold and wet — takes more of that punishment than almost any other component.
Can you fix a rattle without replacing the whole system?
Often, yes. A lot of rattles and buzzes come down to a loose hanger, heat shield or clamp rather than a failed pipe — the free inspection tells us which one it is before we quote anything.
